Learn How To Grow Your Own Food
Now is the time to learn and practice what you learn.
Whether you own a home, are renting home, living in an apartment or a condo you can grow some of your own food!
Herbs, Vegetables, Fruits, Unusual Edibles, Wild Edibles
Vegetables, fruits, herbs, and even edible “weeds” and edible houseplants can contribute variety and taste to a healthy lifestyle.
In my youth I had the experience of helping (although usually reluctantly) in the family garden. I later raised peppers to sell to the local food co-op. I graduated from Utah State University in Ornamental Horticulture with the plan to be a landscape designer. Later I realized that I loved teaching people how to garden through classes and individual coaching sessions.
While working for other companies and now in my own business I have consulted with hundreds of clients and designed, planted, and maintained such diverse gardens as herb, flower, native, and show gardens for individuals, businesses, and gardens open for public use.
The past few years I have taught classes including: Organic Gardening, Herb Gardening, Composting, Organic Lawn Care, Gardening In Survival Times, Wild Edible Plants, and Square Foot Gardening. I have also had the opportunity to write books on herbs and edible plants including What About Herb? Growing & Using Herbs.

” I was looking into re-landscaping our back yard and the trouble spot in the equation was under the deck. It hardly gets any sun, plus we live in Anchorage. Not just any ‘ole plant will grow there. Beuna wrote me almost immediately, telling me which zone we belonged in (websites we visited couldn’t agree). Plus, she gave us numerous suggestions for ground cover plants (which is what I asked for) and the pro’s and con’s of each. What a lovely person to reply so quickly and knowlegeably! Thanks, Beuna! “Kathy Bennion
” I purchased a home a couple years ago and after spending last year clearing weeds I found myself excited to start a new garden – but no clue where to start!!! I had previously attended a square foot garden class where Beuna was very helpful at explaining different options that can be found out there. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and so I tracked her down and had her help us plan out our garden area, as well as suggest ideas to keep up on the rest of the ‘older’ garden/plant areas. She even knows her chickens! Very helpful in these areas, friendly and knows her stuff. Strongly suggest her advice and counsel with any question you (or I) may have!!! Thanks Beuna!!!“Dawnette Dial
“My family and I asked Beuna to come and teach us about square foot gardening. She was well prepared and very knowledgable. We learned a lot and had so much fun at the same time! She was able to answer all of our questions and give us guidance (we were all beginers). A couple of us have started and planted in our gardens already. We’re all so excited and already talking about when we want to do another class! Thank you Beuna!”Tina
